What/where is Yorkshire?
The traditional county of Yorkshire is the largest county in England and is situated in the north of the country. It used to be split up into three 'ridings': North, West and East but in 1974 this was reorganised into several smaller regions including North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire and the Humberside and some parts of land were conceeded to other surrounding counties (Cumbria, Lancashire, County Durham and Greater Manchester).
Yorkshire is home to the Yorkshire Dales and the city of York, founded by the Vikings (see Jorvik on Wikipedia). It's also where the Yorkshire pudding origniates.
